Key cases

  • A major Russian businessman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment Group of Companies was prosecuted a crime in connection with the fire in the Admiral Shopping Centre in Kazan, which killed 19 people, under Article 219, part 3, Article 238, part 2 of Article 201, part 1 of Article 327 of the Russian Criminal Code.
    After a long struggle, the defence succeeded in having the preventive measure of pre-trial custody (remanded in absentia) repealed, terminating the criminal proceedings against the Client and cancelling the international search warrants against him. The Client's right to rehabilitation was recognised.
  • A Russian businessman, one of the shareholders of a group of industrial enterprises in the Ural region, was prosecuted under part 4 of article 159, part 3 of article 174.1 and article 196 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation; he was put on the international wanted list.
    The defence twice obtained refusals to extradite the businessman, first from Ukraine and then from Poland. The defence obtained dismissal of the criminal case and criminal prosecution of the Client in the Russian Federation and repeal of the remand order, which had been remanded in absentia. The defence succeeded in dismissing criminal proceedings against the Client in Ukraine. The Client's right to rehabilitation was recognised.
